Rawalpindi - an Old Map from 1923

Got hold of this old map of Rawalpindi from a site some one put up, but is no longer there.

Now the Map says it is from 1954, but it is actually a reproduction of a map from 1923.

Here's a trip down Nostalgia Avenue for some friends who seemed to be interested in the history of the town. Here you would find the old names of places and some that are still retained. The most interesting are some of the unexpected buildings, which have been there since the times of the Gora. You have to click the map to Enlarge / Download.

  1. Thank you for posting this map. I want to make one correction that it is not a reproduction of 1922 map. You can see Satellite Town there on the map which was initiated in 1952-53. Ayub Park is also there which named in 1959 or 1960 before that it used to be call Topi Park or Topi Rakh. Old map of 1922 is available in Seminar Library of Geography Department, Government College College Asghar Mall Rawalpindi. That is a real old map when neither Satellite Town was there nor Jamia Masjid, Rawalpindi, nor many other buildings which are now considered very old. Arif Mahmud

    1. how can one see the map in seminar library at AMC?
